Services · Assessments
Independent evidence your customers can rely on.
Digital credentials, digitally signed documents and verifiable data are set to move from pilots to broad deployment. Trust frameworks and registries can confirm who issued a document and under which rules. Independent testing helps confirm that the technology behind it does what it is meant to do. Our technology-neutral assessments give solution providers third-party evidence they can share, along with recommendations to strengthen their solution.
Why an independent assessment
- Strengthen your proposals. Independent, third-party evidence can support your responses to procurement and partnership opportunities.
- Strengthen your product. Clear ratings and recommendations highlight your strengths and the next improvements to make.
- Show how your solution performs in practice. Testing real artifacts and live use demonstrates how the product behaves, beyond its documentation.
- Keep pace with every release. Repeatable tests make it practical to reassess as your product and the standards evolve.
What we test
Specification checks
Credentials and signed documents are checked against the technical specifications they implement, such as W3C Verifiable Credentials and C2PA.
Integrity
Signatures, hashes and status checks detect altered, tampered or revoked data.
Interoperability
Credentials and artifacts can be verified independently, outside the issuer’s own tools.
Functional and user tests
The solution does what it says, tested from the user’s point of view, in the scenarios that matter.
Performance
Verification times online and offline, on desktop and mobile, against agreed targets.
Trust chain
The trust anchor behind a credential is identified and confirmed.
How we work
1. Agree on the objectives
We start from your objectives and the standards or frameworks that apply, and document how each one will be interpreted.
2. Build repeatable tests
Our test bench builds on the Digital Trust Testbench (DTT) used in our earlier assessments. Its new iteration runs automated checks in layers, from structural tests to real artifacts to live product tests. The methodology is adapted to each solution.
3. Verify independently
We verify the artifacts a solution produces ourselves, including deliberately tampered ones, and observe the solution in use, so the evidence stands on its own.
4. Weigh the evidence
Each conclusion states what was tested, observed, supplied or explained, and what was not independently tested.
5. Report and recommend
Each objective receives a clear rating, with strengths and recommendations for improvement.
How assessments complement certification
Certification programs, whether based on national or international trust frameworks or on government standards, confirm through accredited audits that a service meets a defined set of requirements. Our assessments do not audit conformance to those requirements and do not replace certification. They test how a specific implementation behaves technically, against the standards it implements and the objectives agreed with you. The results can be used alongside certification, not in place of it.
Ways to work with us
Independent product assessment
An assessment of your solution against agreed objectives and the technical standards it implements, with a clear rating and recommendations for each objective.
Custom test suites
We are open to building custom test suites with organizations in the digital credential space, for example around a sector’s credential rules, interoperability between wallets and issuers, or the identity checks that come before a credential is issued.
Preparing your organization?
Before any product assessment, many organizations first need to understand digital credentials and get ready to implement them. Our capacity building covers training and a guided roadmap toward digitally signed, verifiable documents.
What our reports provide
- Every report is tied to a specific version of a solution and of the standard or framework it was assessed against.
- Scope and limitations are stated clearly, so readers know exactly what was assessed.
- An assessment is independent evidence, not an endorsement of a product for a particular use, and not a substitute for certification by an accredited body.
Experience
Our assessments have covered credential issuance and revocation, digital wallets, trust registry checks, printed credentials carrying a visible digital seal, verification online and offline, and verifiable supply-chain traceability.
