Gatineau, November 3, 2026. Digital Trust Canada (DTC) is among the member organizations of the Trade Digitalization Task Force, led by Transport Canada and announced on October 30 by the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons. The Task Force, which held its first meeting on October 29, brings government and industry together to identify barriers and accelerate the digitalization of trade in Canada.
Alongside representatives of ports, carriers, importers and exporters, financial services, academia and federal departments, DTC brings a neutral, technology- and industry-agnostic perspective on digital trust and international interoperability. A digital shipping document or certificate of origin is only valuable if trading partners can verify, recognize and rely on it, in Canada and internationally.
“Digital trade runs on trust. That requires a federated approach to trust, anchored in Canada, that connects federal, provincial and private issuers and is recognized by our trading partners, so that verified evidence from an exporter, large or small, can be trusted across Canada and recognized abroad,” said Michelle Robitaille, Chief Executive Officer of DTC.
“We are proud to take part in this work and thank Minister MacKinnon and Transport Canada for bringing government and industry together around a shared goal: simpler, faster and more trusted trade. We look forward to contributing to shared foundations for trust alongside our government and industry partners.”
