Digital Trust Canada (DTC) is now the official Gaia-X Hub Canada — a designation formalized on November 20, 2025, during the Gaia-X Summit 2025 in Porto, Portugal, connecting Canada to an global network built around secure, interoperable, and trusted data infrastructure.
Gaia-X — officially the Gaia-X European Association for Data and Cloud AISBL — is a European not-for-profit association, established in 2021, that brings together industry, academia, and political leaders to build standards for transparent, controllable, and interoperable digital infrastructure: federated data spaces that let organizations exchange data without ceding control of it to any single provider. The same Summit marked Gaia-X’s move into what it calls “Season 2.0” — the shift from pilot projects to operational, at-scale deployment across Europe and beyond.

The following day, our CEO, Michelle Robitaille, took the stage at the Summit itself presenting “Internationalisation through Interoperability: Building Trusted Bridges between Canada and the Gaia-X Global Community.” Her message to the room: “Our why is enabling Canada to connect globally through trusted, interoperable digital infrastructure.”
